Debate on taxing unhealthy foods and review of the Danish experience. The following issues will be debated on:
Unhealthy foods: FSS (fat, sugar, salt): priority?
Technical issues: increasing rate of the VAT or an specific tax?
What to tax: product or nutrients. Sugar, Sucrose, fructose,…
Taxing production or taxing consumption?
Tax rate?
Unintended consquences on equity and on social welfare? Ilicit behaviors?
Learning from reality: what have we learned from the experiences so far? External validity?
